Festive Food

Okie the following are made during the festive season. My scones are apparently decent enough to be made into Christmas gifts for my Mom & Dad's co-workers. I loved the blending and baking process, but I almost wanted to kill myself doing the gift wrap. Wrapping 60+ packages is no joke.

Then there's the pineapple tarts! I baked 10 tarts on my first attempt and my Mom looted 6 to her office for personal consumption. Then her co-workers tried them and insisted that I bake bottles of 50pcs for them. I spent the next day making 150 tarts. And the subsequent days making another 100 over tarts. Again, mixing and rolling the dough and pineapple was fun but it was hell trying to place the tarts nicely into the bottles. Worse, my Mom insisted that presentation is important and made me wrap the bottles prettily. I regret showing her the episode of Get Toasted! where Eric Ripert made a remark about the importance of food presentation. My Mom's been some sort of a fan of Ripert after I showed her his series of videos.

Finally, that bowl of strange looking green & yellow substance is NOT soup. It's a bowl of porridge (the English/Scottish type made of oats and oats only, no rice involved!)!!! I made that for breakfast a few weeks back. Well... I wouldn't go as far as to say that it is VERY pretty but still, it is SOMEWHAT pretty isn't it???

I am officially turning into an Auntie - prematurely - at the age of 22. OMG why is this happening to me...
