Career Objectives (?)You see, it is not that I don't have a goal in life. It's just that I don't know how to achieve that goal.
When Mark told us to write about our career objective, I didn't hesitate to write "to be happy, wherever I am ,doing whatever I do".
Ah. I'm such a simple person. I don't have to own the world to be happy (although, of course, I'll be very happy if I could own the world), the things that can keep me happy are simple enough... BUT.
Somehow, they seem unattainable. Either that, or they seem absurd, according to the prevailing status quo (at least that's what I gathered after talking to many people about my very great ambitions. They either think I'm joking, or that I'm crazy. But in any case, nobody thinks I can eventually have things go my way).
But really, if I could, I'd wana be:
1) A yoga instructor (or as my FYP mates put it, a cult leader)
2) A cryptozoologist
3) A female friend of a poor Italian street artist, or a boatman with a gondola in Venice, or a boat in Capri
4) A chef who specializes in comfort, non-atas food (think peanut butter jelly on thick toast, hot chocolate with marshmellows, scones with fresh cream & lemon curd, toast drenched in honey and warm milk, home-made tea cookies etc...)
5) A designer who doesn't know how to use a sewing machine (I want to sew by hand)
6) An artisan of Salvatore Ferragamo
7) A fashion editor
8) A food critique
9) A person who is paid to destroy tech devices on a regular basis to save the world from being so obsessed with technology
10) The owner of a mineral makeup line that has powder puffs in the shape of cute toy animals with puffy cheeks (think my butt cheek faced panda and Dia Dia).
11) A travel writer who is not required to adhere to any writing style/format.
Shit. And I'm graduating in less than a year.

Events of the WeekONE:I want to live in Europe to free my European soul trapped in an Asian society (refer to Vicky Christina Barcelona - the movie). Ha. Okay I'm not as European than I'd like to think I am, but certainly, attending a public sector career talk with the speaker calling CSJ a "delinquent" offended me alot. If I were to face more of such crap, I'll either die of pressure/stress-induced cancer if I don't let out my steam, or be sentenced to death for putting a knife into everyone who blabbers such nonsense into my face.
TWO:Mom and Dad are finally back from Taiwan. According to Mom, Taiwan is not impressive, despite all the raves. Clothes are disgusting (think actcutegirlishsqueakish Taiwanese girls... and their fashion. What a disaster.). Food - nothing amazing either. Well, I kindda expected that. I mean my recent trip to HK, supposedly famous for their cuisin (including dim sum & stuff), didn't impress me. We have much better dim sum here in Singapore. Our fine dining hangouts are much prettier, more atas, and serves better food. Taiwan...? Well... if my Mom thinks HK is better than Taiwan, it should be quite bad. I could have died if I went with them... I mean, if bad food and a collection of fashion disaster weren't enough to kill me, I'm sure the squeaky girls there will complete the job.
And to demonstrate how bad Taiwan's shopping is... I was totally SHOCKED when my Mom (a shopaholic) came back with only one purchase for me - which I totally love, though - 2 tubes of Lancome mascara from the krisflyer shop on the plane. Wonderful evidence to prove the claim right.
So I'm glad my parents are back. That means I can have soup for dinner again!!! You don't know how much a person's skin can dry up with the proper nourishment of a daily dosage of a bowl of soup.
THREE:I am once again angry at the Animal for its lateness. And am horrified by how clawed its telephone line off. Animalistic.

The Wedding Of I-Don't-Know-WhoI'm supposed to attend a wedding dinner tomorrow on my parents' behalf because they won't be in town. The groom is my dad's cousin's son.
First, I don't even know who my dad's cousin is.
Second, I also don't happen to know he has a son to begin with.
So I will march into the restaurant (yes, it isn't a ballroom, and it's not some romantic location in Greece or Capri that has a good view of the Aegean or Mediterranian Sea) without even knowing who the groom is.
Family ties. Argh.
Sometimes, it is painful to have to pretend to give a shit about them. I care about mom, dad and sis because I know them and I live with them. They are my family and I feel it. But the random relatives...? I wouldn't even know they're part of my family if I bump into one of them on the streets.
Talk about imaginary communities. I think it's time to develop a theory about imaginary family.
I don't wana go for the wedding dinner tomorrow.
