More Complaints

Why is it that Chun Wah agrees so happily and readily and quickly to be some groups' sup, while our group seems to be taking forever to get one?

Ahhhh. I hope it's not time to work out a Plan B.

I will refuse to stay back after5.30pm from now onwards because I feel I have a reason to -- Must invest more time into FYP. Besides, internship is ending in 7 weeks. I really can't wait for it to be over.

And for all that I've done (and in fact, for all that we all have done at ACN), they can't possibly fail us. I mean, where can they get people as cheap as us who do as much work as we do? $600/mth is really crazy lah. I feel like I'm expected to eat grass for 6 months with an allowance like this.

It's kindda crappy too, that I'm supposed to be the ppt clicker for a presentation tmr, at MDA. Nothing wrong with being a clicker. BUT AT 4PM??? WTF.

Nvm. At least the chance of bumping into the wacky people from the wacky MDA vid makes me feel a bit better about this. I want to see the high flyer who flew high and crashed badly, and who thinks he is damn cool but is not, and who wants us (CS ppl) to help him conduct a sci-fi research project. But I don't think I'll get to see him.

I hope the presentation ends quickly. I have 2 more sets of readings left untouched.

Internship in Hell

Last week, I had fever and sore throat that made me quite sick. Sick enough to be on a 5-day antibiotic course.

This week, I am running a HIGH FEVER (39.8 deg) and suffering from blocked nose, cough, and now, a severe sore throat that made me desperate enough to drink apple cider vinegar.

2 visits to the doctor and 4 days of MC in 2 weeks. And I'm seeing the doctor again later to get more antibiotics for my newly developed sore throat.

The air in ACN is bad.

In fact, what is good about ACN, at all?

Okay, maybe there are some nice people there, but still, welfare = 0. Level of happiness = 0. Learning experience = 0.5.

I'm determined to write a report so nasty they won't get a single intern next year.

Happy Aging

Nothing beats spending your birthday night out with your amazing girlfriends, dining at a nice Italian restaurant, munching on whateveritis that is drowned in/filled with cheese, and sampling 4 different types of desserts at a go.

It's even better when you're doing all these at your favorite place - which is the Clarke Quay/Robertson Quay area in this case. I love water. I wana live beside a river (or sea or ocean) if I could.

And I love the camera bag I got from the girls. It brings out the EBM-ness in me that has been suppressed for as long as I got into CR. I used it the very next day lah, so you can see how EBM-deprived I've been. HAHAHA.

The lunch buffet I had the following day with my family was decent as well.

I ate so much good food for 3 consecutive days I almost had nothing to complain about - for the first time.

I said ALMOST.

The only regret - I didn't get to eat a sinful, thick, creamy, and biscuit-y cheesecake. Stupid Parkroyal suddenly had a Jap-themed buffet that afternoon, and thus my NY Cheesecake (which is always on the menu) transformed into the irritating Jap spongy cheesecake. The Italian cheese dessert was too sophisticated to be sinful too.

Sigh.

Oh, and it would've been great if my parents would buy me a bottle of ice wine to go with a nice slice of cheesecake.

I shall live on with this regret, until perhaps my dad or mom or sis (or metor or sup or boss) decides to tell me "go buy a nice bottle of wine and a piece of cheesecake, it's on me".

And I hope this day comes soon. Labor's Day is just a bit more than a week away. And it's a good chance for them to make this cheap laborer (aka intern) feel better about her life.

My God. I really want my internship to end. NOW.

Dedicated to QueenPig

He was wearing a dark blue shirt (the normal office shirt he always wears, but of a darker-than-usual shade of blue) and normal pants.

**KEY: BUT HE DIDN'T TUCK HIS SHIRT IN.

And thus, he looked like he just woke up - Disheveled, lazy, half-awake.
With the signature unshaved look, as usual.

As though this isn't fatal enough, he went to survey the buffet spread, biting/sucking a plastic spoon as he did so. So you can imagine a spoon sticking out from his mouth as he sleepily went about koping food.

Sounds strange and unimaginable, but that was seriously HOT.

KL, who had quite successfully managed to quit gianning him went crazy all over again. She even dashed towards where he was - although I dunno for what - in her frenzy. Tinky was horrified.

Later when Tinky and I went for a movie, we had a heart-to-heart conversation which goes like this...

Me: "Now it's just you and me. So, sincerely, do you admit that he was damn hot today?"
Tinky: "In front of other people I will not admit. But now it's just you alone, I will admit. HOT!"
Me: "You're dead, I will tell the world happily ever after."
Tinky: "Tell lor, nobody will believe you. I have the credible face. You got the stupid face."

People other than KL and QP, you can lie to yourself for all you want, but I didn't make up the above conversation.

Hot means hot what. There is no point denying what is true.

Shit la, I think I'm gonna password protect my blog quite soon. I feel super insecure ever since I know people other than the few of you read blogs of cs students. And my blog is linked to YW's blog that is linked to whoever's blog that is linked to whoever's blog.

Argghh.

Okay okay I take back what I say. He is not hot. I do not gian anyone anymore.

My First Science Related Entry

I wanted to start this blog entry with this sentence

--> 100% of men I like are gay.

And explain that it is different from the following

--> I like 100% of gay men.

But then after some interrogation and with it the clearing up of a big mess in my life (although it's not totally cleared up, yet), I found it unnecessary to start this entry on such a depressing note.

Anyway, my weird taste in men (yes I have been listening to Placebo in loop) aside, I just made a new discovery about myself. I am allergic to beer.

I've been feeling bloated since the beer (which I didn't manage to finish) yesterday night and I still feel like puking now. You know, it's the complicated feeling of being extremely full but knowing that I am hungry; so I forced myself to eat despite wanting to puke. Disgusting.

I still cannot understand why WKWSCI don't subsidize wine as well. I don't mind paying the balance. Wine is so much nicer than beer, lor.

Okay, now on a more intellectual note, the scare renyi gave me yesterday made me start thinking again about a few things.

1) My friend's revised theory of Natural Selection, applied to human breeding.
2) The food chain I've learnt in Primary school.
3) Gay men and their influences on women and the human population.

First, let me explain my friend's theory of Natural Selection. It is super simplistic - women flock to good looking men and men flock to good looking women. So the best looking ones will marry, breed, and have good looking offsprings. The uglier ones die off.

Yes. A very very stupid theory that doesn't take into consideration many other things (like wealth, character... well I think the character part is just bullshit though), but it does make a vague bit of sense in some way.

The food chain. Even easier to understand. When toads die, snakes will run out of food and die too, assuming that there are only 2 types of animals in the food chain.

So how do these 3 things come together?

I was thinking, I used to adore gay men. Not adore in that way larh, I just think they are cool. Stereotypically, they are the most fashionable people, they think super creatively, and they can be women's best friend, giving them advice, companionship, etc... that straight men and women cannot provide. And somehow, most of the gay men I know are really good looking.

I never thought I would see gay men as a threat.

Until yesterday.

Too many gay men will upset the balance in the society. Because they are very often hot (I'm not saying ALL are hot la), they set standards too high. Women thus, according to my friend's Natural Selection theory, flock to them.

BUT. Yes... BUT.

Thus, with more and more of them coming out, it is not surprising that the human population is shrinking, at least in some parts of the world. (Maybe I should do an FYP that studies the relationship between the level of acceptance towards homosexuality, the number of gay men coming out and the changing population size)

And thus, as more men become bold enough to admit to their sexual preferences, more women will find it hard to find someone to marry (think the food chain: gay men can be considered dead toads, women who cannot get married will thus be the starving and dying snakes). Eventually, because we all cannot find our other half, we will all just die offspringless and become extinct.

And so, we cannot live happily ever after.

I am not someone who thinks that marriage is necessary. I personally do not adore kids either ( I hate scrawling babbies ). But for once, I see the threat of having too many gay men (and of course, lesbians) as real to the human species.

It is hard not to love gay men. I will try not to.
