I Cannot Reply Properly Using Tag BoardBecause you girls seem quite interested, here are some... er... stuff... I gathered that you might want to know.
Sports/Fitness Centres don't necessary have better instructors. Classes conducted by different instructors WITHIN THE SAME fitness centre can differ quite vastly. So it all depends on the instructor you get. I'm a member of Amore Fitness, and I've tried many many instructors, but no one beats my shi fu. My mom's friend is a member of Pure Yoga, and she was happy until one day her instructor changed schedule and stopped conducting the class she always attends. She's super sian now cuz she's stuck with dunno how many more lessons to go and she's unhappy with other Pure instructors.
So the downside of signing up with a fitness centre is basically that you are not sure if you will be lucky enough to get a good instructor throughout the XX lessons you sign up for. For my case, cuz of PI, I cannot attend the Wed afternoon and Fri morning classes my shi fu conducts at Amore anymore. I have 20+ more lessons to complete at Amore, but most of the other instructors are so cui I don't even feel like attending their classes. Just recently, after complaining to shi fu abt other Amore instructors, he recommended two Amore instructors to me. They happen to be his students (cool right, his students are now instructors), so they too do vinyasa yoga.
And don't fret. Just because my shi fu charges cheaply doesn't mean he's some lousy crap. He's a part time instructor at Amore and has been bugged by Pure and/or True Yoga (I forgot exactly which one) to be their instructor. Plus he's the shi fu of several yoga instructors. As you can see, he's really THAT good lah (and he's also THAT lazy cuz he refuses to work full time for the fitness centres). He's charging us only $10 cuz he's a super "chin chai" person.
Anyway, if anyone is still interested in signing with a fitness centre, try Pure Yoga. He tried yoga classes EVERYWHERE and said that so far Pure has the best instructors around (See, he's unselfish too! HAHAHA.). But that's gonna be quite costly.
Actually if I have alot alot alot of money, I will also wana sign up for something - I wana sign up for the yoga instructor training course at Como Shambhala Urban Escape. But $13k for the course leh. Just kill me. Or sponsor me. HAHAHA.
If you wana join me for my shi fu's class, contact me lah. I sms him weekly to tell him if I'm going for class. It's every Friday, 7.30 - 8.30 pm. At Upper Cross Street. :)

PI & Ad for my Instructor/Shi FuSo. It has been a month and nothing has happened yet to make me change my mind about an office job. It is as boring, disgusting, physically and emotionally draining as ever. I suffer from backaches from the long hours of sitting and the cushion I use to support my back only helps a little in alleviating the pain. Very terrible.
I just wish and wish internship will be over soon. 6 months is too long a period, especially when I have already decided that I don't want to have a career in market/media research in the future. Cannot imagine myself tracking the same data year after year. Really can die, larh.
My mentors are nice though. I like them. A funny bunch of CS seniors who visit the gym alot and weigh themselves everyday. Here at Nielsen, under their influence, I developed the habit of weighing myself every other day. But I suspect the weighing machine is broken. I can lose half a kg in a day and one full kg in a week. And then the following week, when I weigh myself at my instructor's house, I gain another kg. Amazing.
Anyway, having a nearby home to return to during lunch time comes as a consolation to me. On some days when we are feeling healthy, we'll hit the gym at my estate to work out for a while. Better still, when my parents happen to be at home during lunch time, I will rush back to join them for lunch. You know, when your mom or dad is in charge of your meal and they are well aware that you are having an awful time at work, they'll make sure you are gonna enjoy your lunch with them. Once, they got me cheese & mushroom prata, curry, brocolli, tofu and pu-er tea. On another occasion, I had fish & chips (the batter has rosemary in it, cool right?), english breakfast tea, mom's barley, and alot of fruits (i.e. starfruit, the huge brown korean pear etc.).
It also helps that the new house has a wooden platform that allows me to practise yoga without a mat. So when I go home for lunch, I always do the bridge for a few minutes to ease the pain in my lower back.
Seriously, women should all do yoga. I mean, there are people I know who refuse to do so because of their religion, but really, I have been practising it for some time now and I don't experience anything vaguely religious when learning/doing it, so there can't be a clash right? Besides, you can choose to do non-meditative yoga aka physical yoga and just sweat it out. Guys tend to think that yoga is sissy, but believe it or not, it is more "xiong" than you can imagine. I can wet a towel in 30 minutes. And for women who have a problem with excess flabs, do vinyasa yoga, sure lose weight and build muscles. Happiness. I think I lost a few kgs since I follow my instructor. And it's not like I don't eat. I eat horrendously alot. Wahahaha. Okay lah, but my legs still quite fat, must jiayou.
I am not advertising for my shi1 fu4, but then he's really so good I feel that I should share this with whoever cares to read my blog (in fact, I think he wouldn't want more students cuz he's super lazy and refuses to teach extra classes even when I request for one). If anyone is interested, can go try his yoga class with me. $10/class only (you pay only when you go, it's not a package). I have tried 8 instructors before, and my shi fu is really the best.
p.s. Ali if you're reading this, don't be lazy. You either bai4 shi1 with me or you bai4 wo3 wei2 shi1. CHOOSE. CNY coming ah, don't start soon then become fat fat fat!
