Randomness

It is not that I'm so obsessed with the exams I have nothing else to blog about except that. But really, exams' super newsworthy.

The final paper was Modern Drama, and it's really damn drama. I flipped open the question paper and I almost flipped over with shock.

The questions were EXACTLY the SAME as the past year paper. How amazing is that?

Okay anyway, exam's finally over and I can breathe normal and admire the Christmas decor along Orchard without a buggy feeling that there's something undone.

Flying to Italy tonight and I'm feeling a little paranoid cuz it'll be morning when we arrive at Milan. Which means we'll be going straight for the city tour and have no time to shower until at night. It's something like 20 hours without shower... I'm already imagining how my hair will clump together looking oily and disgusting. Yucks. And it's most disturbing because I'll be looking crappy in Milan... Milan leh! When everyone's looking fab, wearing some super branded stuff, I'll be looking so cui... Sad.

Okay, so now I should continue to pack my luggage and make sure I have enough of everything. HAHAHA. I brought super wayang clothes over larh... I even brought a black tie with red stars over to wear. HEHEHE. And it's winter. I'm crazy.

Randomness

This exam has been bizarre.

Stella's paper had an ambiguous question, and expected too much from us in too little time. Generating an entire question route for a focus group in 30 minutes is almost crazy. And it's strange she wasn't present to invigilate the paper. How then, if something goes wrong, can she fix the shit?

Comm Campaigns was even more brilliant. 30 marks for a question we can answer in like... 3 sentences? What's wrong with that guy larh. And it's also crazy how he wanted to extend the exam by 30 minutes, and even crazier when he decided to cut it down by 25 minutes, 5 minutes into extra time. I feel damn sorry for those who didn't finish their paper. His retardedness is killing us. And it's so amazingly retarded it's actually funny.

Wayne's paper was bizarre but enjoyable. I actually suggested to cease production of wafer cones altogether if customers do not have any preference. Super brave of me right?

Anyway, I decided that password sounded very sexy when Ailing's beloved said it. And it's damn funny and jian of him to not tell us how to spell that bloody password. I mean, that could be 1 minute extra time for us lor. Plus the Internet connection crap, another 2 minutes. Plus the psychological impact of his encouragement for us to do the paper slowly.... PLUS, for some individuals, his very presence as a source of distraction... ARGGHHH. I bet that could total up to 10 minutes!

Die larh, I know I'm worrying for nothing but the thought of 2007 being his 3rd year in CS means that he has to renew his contract soon, or leave us forever.

I hope I can get him as my FYP sup. Or better, PI AND FYP sup. HAHAHAHA.

OHHH ANW, just to dui any Bo fans out there, I picked him up from the bus stop the other day. HAHAHA. Hao right? (It's depressing for me though... it could've been HIM instead... sighhhh)

And another embarrassing moment in school last Friday. I was in school studying stats with KL. Then at five plus, before leaving school, I suddenly needed to pee (crap I know I'm crude) desperately. So I started charging towards the toilet at the 3rd level, when suddenly, the door that leads to the stretch of offices (just beside the toilet) swang open and He appeared. I was obviously running to the toilet larh, so in order not to look so desperate, I slowed down quite abruptly and said "hi" to him. Then right, because KL and I had some questions regarding the 2006 paper that could've been answered if we asked him, I decided that peeing was less important and quickly turned back to chase after him so I could clarify with him.

Hao, then STUPIDLY, I had a short consultation with him outside the toilet. HOW CRUDE CAN THAT BE????????

I felt damn embarrassed and stupid standing there and listening to his explanations larh.

But I bet KL would wana be in my place this time round, cuz he was wearing a white shirt with ROLLED UP SLEEVES *hint hint* and jeans. HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

I was disturbed (negative implication), but I bet KL will be elated.

Torres is cute. He is running happily on the field now. YAY! Go Liverpool!

Stats

Today's Stats Exam.

One word. JIAN.

What a lie larh, how can we finish it in 1 hour? He should've warned us against taking our own sweet time rather than encouraging us to do it.

And the bloody phrase telling us to report the "measures of central tendency and dispersion" is how how how bloooooody misleading!

It should be "the appropriate central tendency and the dispersion" instead. I thought the "s" behind the "measures" referred to the 3 central tendencies larh!

ARGGGHHHH!

Thank goodness Syntax didn't come out. If not I will stab myself to death.

Wrong Course

Having a below-average score for 2 CS mods makes me feel sick.

I really feel like puking.

Maybe I should've been a Lit student instead. So I don't have to work with people. So my grades will really be mine and will not be affected by (and will not affect) other people.

I hate to work with people I hate to work with.

I knew things will screw up. I knew 341 will screw up. I didn't even want to look at the final report because I know I'll eventually have to face the nightmare and I don't wana face it before I have to.

Maybe I really should've been a Lit student.

I surprised myself when I refused to do the easier question (Run Lola Run) for today's Magic Realism paper. Sounds ridiculous now that I'm thinking rationally. But at the exam hall just a few hours ago, I really felt it would be really degrading if I picked that question because it is too straight-forward and doesn't require much thinking, if at all. I had too much "lit pride" in me to allow myself to answer such a stupid question.

Now that I've chosen to save my honor, I don't know if I can save my grades. Too impulsive young woman... especially when you need your Lit papers to pull your grades up this semester.

Fuck la.

New Makeup Needed

I've been using MAC's Paint Pot as lower lash liner for a few months.
No smudges. It's really good. I'm not complaining at all.

But still I'm feeling adventurous. So does anyone have any other recommendations? I tear alot so the eyeliner must have superb lasting power.

Also, I need a new mascara. I think the stupid L'Oreal Volume Shocking is too stiff. Anyone knows any other good brands? I care more about volume then length anyway, so...

Anyway, please advise before 29th Nov. I'm gonna wear nice makeup to Italy to meet hot Italian men. Pray they're not racist. HAHA.

PI

Why do we all hope that both PI companies we applied for would accept us? Is it really because we want to have a choice?

I sincerely doubt so. At least I'm speaking for myself. And for some other people I've spoken to in school (like Dylan! HAHAHAHA).

Face it. Most of us are narcissistic.

We all want to be selected by both PI companies because we love to know that we're better than someone else who didn't get the position we got. Or at least, we want to know that we're good enough for both companies to accept us.

And more importantly, being able to reject a company gives us a sense of empowerment. And we love that. No?

For my case, I wouldn't think that I'd received an ego boost because of the first two factors listed above. But yes, I did feel a sense of empowerment (and delight) when I sent the email to Jenny telling her I'm rejecting MTV.

Empowerment not just because I could reject MTV. Empowerment because I feel super super lucky (although it is weird to say that you feel empowered because you have luck). If you know who my competitor is for this position, you'll know why I'm feeling lucky instead of feeling capable/smart.

On paper, and erm... on face (if that's what you call it), I'm disadvantaged.

That aside. I'm going to Nielson afterall. Even though I am quite bitter about not having the chance to sit through an interview to find out more about the job and the company culture. Even though I am quite bitter about not being able to wear slippers and shorts to work (unlike MTV). Even though I am quite bitter about the prospect of having to work harder at Nielson than at MTV...

It is sooooo super near my new home it is impossible to reject the Nielson offer. Work starts at 9am - I can walk out of home at 8.50am. Work ends at 5.30pm. I can reach home at 5.40pm.

And Harry's bar is just 5 minutes away. Ben & Jerry's just 7 minutes away. And my favorite organic food cafe is also like 5 minutes away.

And the thought of being able to go home for lunch when I feel like it is sooooo tempting too!

People interning at Nielson, welcome to my house for lunch yea?

OMG this is disgustingly fun. HAHAHA.

Random Updates

Sometimes it is really hard not to like/admire the past tense M. Finding The Feminine Critique in my inbox made me think he's worthy once again. Such a thoughtful guy.

Classic quotes from Wayne on Thursday:
- "Gabriel's really cool. He's got a lot of style." (HAHA. Gab's got a new friend besides Eddie. Congrats man!)
- "I'm super quantitative."
- "Stella's super quantitative."
- "I swear Mark is super qualitative" (I debated with Wayne over this issue for quite some time. Nobody won in the end).

New adjectives to describe people... in terms of binary opposition - Super Quantitative v.s. Super Qualitative. Wayne is so cool. He invents.

Then there is a group of people who are... hybrids. You describe them as "towards quantitative" or "towards qualitative". That's me. And M.

Ian wrote a really funny and sweet mail to thank me for the Crab Tree and the Evelyn. He's gonna plan the Crab Tree because he loves black pepper crabs. Full of crap.

Kailing and I figured that to run chi-square, you have to enter the data one by one for SPSS to compute and run the test. You cannot just type in some computed number and make SPSS run anything for you although it simplifies the job for both SPSS and for you. How stupid.

I lost my black notebook, which means the whole semester of notes are gone. And my first paper is on the 14th. Cheers.

I always thought I am the benchmark for stupidness until recently.

I think I should check out the score for the Arsenal and Man Utd match now.
