It is the time of the year

Should I:

1) Cut my hair short and make it straight (as in above the shoulders).
2) Leave the length but make it straight.
3) Leave it as it is.

Argghhh.

You see how bored I can get

I even did the test that Ali did and posted on her blog.

Your view on yourself:You are down-to-earth and people like you because you are so straightforward. You are an efficient problem solver because you will listen to both sides of an argument before making a decision that usually appeals to both parties.

The type of girlfriend/boyfriend you are looking for:You are a true romantic. When you are in love, you will do anything and everything to keep your love true.

Your readiness to commit to a relationship:You prefer to get to know a person very well before deciding whether you will commit to the relationship.

The seriousness of your love:Your have very sensible tactics when approaching the opposite sex. In many ways people find your straightforwardness attractive, so you will find yourself with plenty of dates.

Your views on education:You may not like to study but you have many practical ideas. You listen to your own instincts and tend to follow your heart, so you will probably end up with an unusual job.

The right job for you:You have plenty of dream jobs but have little chance of doing any of them if you don't focus on something in particular. You need to choose something and go for it to be happy and achieve success.

How do you view success:You are afraid of failure and scared to have a go at the career you would like to have in case you don't succeed. Don't give up when you haven't yet even started! Be courageous.

What are you most afraid of:You are afraid of things that you cannot control. Sometimes you show your anger to cover up how you feel.

Who is your true self:You are mature, reasonable, honest and give good advice. People ask for your comments on all sorts of different issues. Sometimes you might find yourself in a dilemma when trapped with a problem, which your heart rather than your head needs to solve.

Singapore City Tour

I had one yesterday.

First part of the city tour:

Thanks to Mr. Gao Rongjun. Tinky and I are on the verge of committing a hideous crime -- murder.

We (Tinky and I) met at 12 in town in search of something Milan or Italia to buy for yw's birthday. We visited almost EVERY sports shop in town... but there wasn't anything vaguely Milan or Italia that was nice. Omg the Kappa Italia jackets are terrifyingly unpretty.

So Tinky suggested that I sms rj to check out what they're buying... so we can have more idea as to what we should get for yw, or what we should not get for her if someone else is getting the same thing.

Bad suggestion.

Rj told us (ok... me to be specific, but practically speaking it's US) that we should go to Peninsular Plaza to find this shop called La something cuz it sells Italian football stuff. So we travelled ALLLLLL the way to Peninsular Plaza, looked through the list of shops there, but couldn't find anything that sounds vaguely like the shop name he told us.

So I called to demand for the specific location of the shop. And then as smart as we always are, managed to find it independent of the directions he gave us.

It was in Peninsular HOTEL. Not Plaza.

Then to our horror, upon reaching the shop, we didn't spot anything Italia at all in it!!!!!!

I called again to roar. And what was the reply?

Oh I don't think you guys should get her the Italian thingy... It's risky because many other people are prolly gonna get her the same thing.

And that was after Tinky and I (and now Sarah too) travelled all the way from Orchard to City Hall, and walked from Peninsular Plaza to Peninsular Hotel.

Thanks Xiao Ming (people reading this, pls convey our thanks to him). I'm super grateful. =p

Second part of the city tour:

Went to Mt. Faber... Can you believe it? I DROVE up a MOUNTAIN.

HAHAHA. Super impressed by myself.

It was rather scary when I first turned into the path that leads to The Altivo Bar. Cuz there was this random old man walking ALONE in the opposite direction.

I mean, it was dark and quiet and there wasn't any building or whatsoever anywhere near where he was walking, so where did he come from? Brrr...

Altivo was cool. Very nice view from where we were sitting. I felt quite stupid becuz I forgot to bring a camera, and even more stupid becuz it was a NEW 10.x megapix camera that my dad just got. What a waste.

Anyway I somehow feel that the view from Altivo is prettier that that from Cafe Decor (which is at the hilltop in Hongkong). And the breeze was pretty cool up there.

It wasn't late when we finished our meal, so we took a cable car ride. Haven't been in a cable car in Singapore before, so it was like new to me lah. And better still, the last time I took a cable car was like ages ago... somewhere I even forgot where... haha. But really, I prefer those rides that allows you to sit on a bench-like thingy and let your legs hang in mid-air. More exciting... You don't know when your shoe will fall off and if you're ever gonna retrieve it again in your life. Hehehe.

Okay and to add on to my lameness, I suggested going to the Night Safari after the ride. We drove all the way from Faber to Mundai to find that the Night Safari closes in an hour's time. Thus it is stupid to pay $20 to check out animals for an hour. So we decided to give it a miss.

By then yk was already dead tired & on the verge of sleeping. I managed to find my way back from Mundai (although I almost missed an important turn at a cross junction) with only like 25% of his help. Quite smart again. HAHA. And so my day finally ended -- but not before trying to poison yk with the candy in my bag which I left under the sun (it was actually a kind attempt to keep him awake throughout his drive home).

------------------------------------------------------

Anyway to add on to my adventures yesterday, I actually COOKED in the afternoon. Tinky and I went to play with food at Seoul Garden and we actually succeeded in cooking semi-edible fried rice! WAHAHAHA!

Yes I Am An Impractical Person And A Bum But I Like It This Way

Just got back from Hongkong. And I'm so glad I'm home.

Can't really understand why people around me seem to fancy the idea of going, or even staying there. My mom's colleague's daughter (yes I know this is confusing) claimed she enjoys her working life over at Hongkong and I cannot find a reason to convince myself she's not lying.

Seriously.

They lead a hard life. Every morning I step out of the hotel to be greeted by streets packed with people rushing about as though there're pins on the ground they can't let their feet stay on the ground for another millisecond.

At the escalators, people WALK. They don't just stand there and wait for the machine to transport them up or down the stairs.

In the train stations, they RUN. It seems as thought it is a sin to miss a train.

Something more terrible -- They don't get to eat in peace.

In every Hongkong restaurant/cafe we patronized, the waiters just kindda force you to quickly finish your food and scram. You can't really sit there to chat or chill, or even enjoy your food for a moment longer. I mind that alot. But people there don't seem to care. They really just enter the restaurant/cafe, sit down, place their order, eat, and leave.

And yes, this was happening even in the supposedly posh restaurants we visited... Like Zen and Cafe Decor.

That was why I was so tempted to just chiong into Dan Ryan's when I saw it at Pacific Place. Not only does the restaurant have a cosier and calmer atmosphere, it serves American food. Did I mention, I miss Western food TERRIBLY over there.

Everyday it's just roast goose, dim sum, da-lang, porridge... Somehow my parents and aunt feel that in Hongkong, it is wrong to eat anything other than these things. WHY???

Arghh... food aside, I really hate the pace of life over there. I begin to appreciate Singapore alot more after this trip. And I've made up my mind that someday I'm just gonna migrate to Spain or Italy, get married to a poor local street artist and be happy with my spiritual life.

Yes, I do not believe in earning mountains of cash and eventually getting crushed under the mountains. That is why all along my choice was between NUS FASS (and to be more specific, religious study, philosophy, history or literature) and CS. That is why I'm minoring in E.Lit rather that business. That is why I never thought of working in a bank. That is why I dislike it when people tell me about their business ventures and their shoulder-rubbing experiences with politicians and big shots from all over the place when they are freaking the same age as I am.

As much as I think Wilde is silly when it comes to Bosie-business, I admire him for his passion for arts, his spirituality.

"We can forgive a man for making a useful thing as long as he does not admire it. The only excuse for making a useless thing is that one admires it intensely. All art is quite useless." (Oscar Wilde)

Not the exact same "art" here, but certainly history and literature lessons make me feel much more enlightened than stupid marketing and science courses. Some people don't care. But I don't care that they don't care.

People who reject fiction, art and spirituality should just die.

On my HK trip

I'm going to HK. And I want to eat everything.

I want egg tarts for breakfast everyday.
I want steamed ginger-egg dessert for supper.
I want goose liver.
I want fresh oysters.
I want to drink soup.
I want seafood from Lamma Island.
I want crab-sticky-rice.
I want sesame paste.
I want congee.
...

I only refuse to eat da-lang. It is disgusting. But my entire family <3 it. ARGHH.

FCUK

Seriously. For the benefit of my ex-tuition-kids who occasionally read my blog, I'm not spelling the title of this entry the correct way. That being F**K.

Here I am, sitting on my bed at 9.53pm, with my left foot elevated on a pillow -- WHY? Because I fucking sprained/fractured it while walking down a flight of stairs at Bugis.

I really can't tell if it's a sprain or a fracture. It's freaking swollen. And it hurts like shit.

I feel that there's an air of conspiracy around this whole shit. You know, as I landed on the foot the wrong way, and heard this "snap" sound (which I don't know came from my slippers or my bone or my ligament or whatever crap)... I saw (simultaneously) a shop right in front of me with signboard saying 铁打/推拿。

3 words. WTF.

Ask me which flight of stairs it was the next time you meet it. It's cursed. I swear.
