JoyThough the amount of work I have to do really suffocates me, and leaves me with barely enough time to do nonsense, here I am again, blogging about yesterday because I really have to. And I really want to.
Now I shall start from the least interesting and leave the best for the end of the post.
The first exciting thing that happened was the hysterical argument between Dr. D and Mr. D(uffy). They aruged about everything under the sun, from the sit-on-your-hands-and-talk challenge to the how-to-strangle-Dr.D instructions; from the French woman selling whisky to the Visa scheme. Imagine, 2 intellects bickering in front of us... you have to be there to know how amusing that is. (Sorry for the extremely high-context comm here)
Then in the afternoon, as I was making my way to BTS' class, my phone rang. "Honey" called to clarify the booking of the FG room with me. Confusion. So he suggested "Oh why don't you confirm with M?"
Bursting in excitement and joy within, I controlled my overwhelming emotions and tried my best to sound resentful (this was a challenge):
"Ohhh myy... do I have to get back to CS to check with him?"
And then the dream came true.
"Oh call him. I'm sure you have his number!"
Ah. An excuse.
But I didn't have the guts to make that phone call. I proceeded, with this unkown, tingling feeling in me, to BTS' class.
There, I noticed something that made me laugh out loud. He actually drinks from a cup, which he refills in class with the mineral water bottle he brought along with the cup. And I was like... can't he just drink from the bottle?
Sarah if you're reading this, please explain. Thank you.
(3 hr time lapse)
Then... it was prac (mounting excitement).
... ... ...
Trival stuff that happened but rings in my head even now.
(It might not be interesting/comprehensible/exciting if you're not already a hard-core, or a friend of one. But it will be if you happen to be one.)
- He said "damn" in a devastatingly sexy manner that left me gasping for air (I swear).
- The shirt... was the sexiest shirt I'd ever seen.
- He complaint that students, in their feedback forms, asked him to "wear colors". I was tempted to ask him why he only wears black.
- He laughed and smiled alot in that 2 hours, though there was a moment when he frowned alot, thus spouting that "damn" word. Ah. Emotional.
- The smiles were exceptionally fatal yesterday, somehow.
- And the mystery was solved.
- It's his birthday.
- It's his birthday.
- It's his birthday.
- It's his birthday.
- It's his birthday.
- ... IT'S HIS BIRTHDAY!!!
And I was smiling the whole of yesterday.

DeadYou see, school just started 3 weeks ago.
But I look like I've been an EBMer for as long as I live; Translate that into layman terms: I look sick, tired, and almost dead.
There are many things to do. So much so that my home becomes my second home, while CS becomes my, erm, first home.
It all boils down to the modules I cleverly (note the sarcasm) picked this sem.
First, there's the uber practical/hands-on Broadcast Journ, where Ian imagines that BJ is our one and only module this sem, so we have all the time in the world to complete the 8 or 9 vids he wants us to complete.
Then, there's the uber exciting, nerve-wrecking and braincell-consuming CR Prac. Why it is exciting I don't have to explain. Why it is nerve-wrecking... I don't want to explain. If you know the venue of our CR Prac class, you will understand. (I'm afraid of heights and the unobstructed view from the fourth level of CS is really too much for me to bear...).
Armed with the DV150 and the tripod, I'm still helpless when dealing with my lit modules. The DV cam and the tripod are totally crushed under the mountain of the lit texts. Mind you, it's the first time I'm taking lit modules and I have to deal with texts as "profound" as Conrad's Heart of Darkness. Too disgusting for my liking, although bizarre individuals like * and * love the book to bits. I'd rather lug the DSR and run 2.4km than read the book.
But the other books are alright though. In fact I quite like most of my lit books. And I quite like my lit lessons. And I happen to quite like my lit prof too! Wahaha!
However, it is definitely not an easy task to try to complete assignments and keep up with readings at the same time. But I will succeed. I'm already enthusiatically engaging in a self-nerdifying process.
Okay enough of my blabbeirng. I shall go sleep. Must prep myself to read Manto and Rushdie's stuff tomorrow. And also, must attempt to look fresh and awake by Monday and pretend to look forward to more BJ assignements.

Add/DropI hope I made the right decision.
Everything went my way. I got the BTS modules that I wished for, and the CRP that I yearned for.
But as much as M kept me alive in the potentially boring class with a grand total of 3 students and 2 instructors (Chancilla being the other instructor), BTS made me consider suicide in his Empire class. The course is decent, I have to admit. It sounds intellectual and all... but the atmosphere in the class was (is and will be) just wrong. BTS' voice has an "extremely calming" effect (not a compliment) which eventually bore me to tears, yet I felt terribly uneasy - the people in the class were... pretentious. They were enthusiatic in a strange way, and the way they speak English was awful to listen to. You know, the way Singaporeans attempt to speak in some accent that don't belong to us. Ouch.
Being the considerate person I am, I decided that in order not to break the air of unnatural civilness in the class, I should just shut up.
As though the 2-hour experience was not reason enough for me to drop Empire, there were the required texts we have to read. Beliving that things that are hard to get are definitely good stuff that shouldn't be discarded too easily, I tried to read the books. BUT GOD... JOSEPH CONRAD KILLS WITH HIS PEN!
I could feel my life draining away with every turn of the page.
Feeling weak and limp after the struggle, I dragged myself to M's class. Seriously, I can hardly believe that I'm not attending the class with the highest spirits. But M was no disappointment. He's great. Even Chancilla was smart. The course was well-planned and looked like it's gonna be very useful. Plus, things went well... too well... in class. *hugs my cellphone*
I suspect it's BTS; I slept at 10pm that night. You can tell how tired I was.
But I'm nice and I decided to give him a chance to prove his worth on Thursday during South Asian Lit. And yes, he was much much much better than in Empire. I see more passion. He got the nonverbal cues the class sent him when we got bored and did something about it. And much to my delight he passed some mean, sarcastic remarks to people who deserved them.
And I finally could see why some girls *ahem ahem* became fans...
I was slightly thrilled when he squatted in front of me to ask us our opinions. His blue eyes were like... woooooo!!!
No no, don't get me wrong. I'm not insanely in love with him like *ahem ahem*, but yea, I can see why that happened. He's nice. (I still think he can't teach but he's nice.) And this time round, he managed to make me wana think and talk in class.
So as absurd as it may sound, I've dropped Empire (and kindly donated my vacancy to some drooling girls *haha*) and decided to keep South Asian Lit. I can't believe it... I'm into Indian Lit!!!
Oh my... I hope I made the right decision!
